Travellers always welcome new airline routes. They offer an opportunity to be transported to foreign climes and new adventures. Wise Traveller brings a November round-up of routes being launched or proposed:

Air Canada: The carrier has revealed an expanded summer 2025 programme featuring new non-stop routes and expanded options across Europe, the US and Asia. New highlights include routes from Montreal to Naples, Italy, and Porto, Portugal, restored routes such as Toronto to Prague, Toronto to Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, and Ottawa to London Heathrow.

“Our expanded offerings make for an exciting summer with a range of options to explore Europe and beyond,” said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning.

The expansion also includes more flights on its European network, such as three daily flights to Athens and Rome; as well as to Stockholm, Madrid, and Paris. It will also offer a daily service to Casablanca.

In Asia-Pacific, seasonal routes to Seoul from Montreal and Osaka from Toronto will resume to accommodate the growing demand for direct flights between North America and Asia.

Croatia Airlines: Plans are afoot for eight new routes in 2025 while maintaining its existing 28-destination network. The carrier’s expansion will be revealed in the New Year and will be underscored by the arrival of its new Airbus A220 aircraft fleet.

Fly Jinnah: The Pakistani-based carrier is opening a new service from Lahore, Pakistan, to three cities in Saudi Arabia. These include flights to Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh.

Emirates Airline: It has launched a new daily service between Dubai and Edinburgh. This is a service the airline flew back in 2020.

American Airlines: The carrier plans to expand its network to Italy for the 2025 season. This includes increasing daily services between Philadelphia and Rome Fiumicino Airport from June 5 and, from May 6, a daily service between Chicago O’Hare and Naples. From June 5, the carrier has scheduled a daily service between Dallas-Fort Worth and Venice.

Virgin Atlantic: It’s Mexico all the way as Virgin Atlantic announces its dip back into the network for the first time in five years. It will be operating flights to Cancun International Airport (CUN) from London Heathrow Airport from Oct. 19.

Cebu Pacific Airlines: Cebu will be adding a new direct route between Manila in the Philippines and Sapporo, Japan, from January 2025. The carrier said the route will provide Filipino travellers access to popular attractions and help expand connections in the intra-Asian region.

Turkish Airlines: Turkiye’s mega-carrier has announced plans to add a second flight to Sydney, Australia. It began flights to the country earlier this year with a service into Melbourne.

Other notable mentions: Singapore Airlines is adding a new line into Beijing Daxing International Airport with a daily service. Korean Air will also begin daily begin flights between Seoul and Kumamoto, Japan.
