Getting To Know Sonja
Kind enough to helps us with her review Sonja agreed to answered a few questions about her life as a traveller and travel blogger.
What is your favourite destination and why?
Scotland. I lived there for two years and it feels like home to me. I love the beauty of the country and the people.
Tell us your scariest travel experience?
I was in a car accident in Cambodia, but thankfully everyone was ok.
If you could only give one single travel tip that you think would be the most helpful what would it be?
Put yourself in social situations. Stay in hostels, speak to people on tours. It’s the people you meet who really make the experience.
What is your favourite travel related quote?
‘Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.’
What was the single most influential thing/moment that drove you to travel blogging?
I always loved to write, especially about travel. I thought the travel blog niche was well over written and I would have no chance of being heard, but as I looked at more and more blogs I realised there wasn’t a lot about moving abroad, and the more blogs I found the more confidence I had that I could do it too.
What advice would you give someone wanting to become a travel blogger?
Just start. I wish I had started seriously so much sooner. There are so many resources out there, you don’t need to be taught just learn as you go along.
