Bulgaria Surprises With The Best Value Winter Sports Holidays In Europe
How many of us realised that Bulgaria offered substantial winter sporting holiday choices? Not that many, would be the wager. This is probably why they have been found to be the cheapest in Europe.
Ipsos (an independent research company) has looked at all of the countries in Europe to find the best overall winter sports packages and they revealed that the resort of Bansko, in the southwest of Bulgaria, by far offers the most value for money. This resort may sound like the middle of nowhere; however, don’t be fooled! Bansko offers its visitors no less than 100 hotels, hundreds of self-catering accommodation choices, restaurants and other facilities.
Bansko really does represent amazing value for money, as well. As an example for you, Ipsos found that the average cost for a week’s holiday including ski passes, ski lessons, ski hire, hotel accommodation, evening means and all drinks would come out at a grand total of £1,631 for a family of four. In contrast, at Europe’s most expensive skiing destination: St Anton, in Austria, these same elements would combine to a total price of £5,026 – that’s more than 3 times as much!
So, if you’re looking to enjoy a full week of winter sports but prefer not to have to pay through the nose for the privilege, it may be worth your while pricing up a holiday to Bulgaria. This country is already growing in popularity for its Black Sea resorts during the summer months; it’s good to see the same thing is now happening on its ski slopes during the winter.
