Are you looking for the perfect golfing weekend away? Well, good news, your search is over! If there is nothing you love more than playing a round of 18, we have recently put in the hard yards to test a great trip for you and your friends that will make it a truly unforgettable vacation in South East Asia.
The four-day trip will see you based in Da Nang, Vietnam, where you will be able to play on three of the best courses in the region during the day before getting to experience everything the city has to offer in the evening. So whether you are looking for a night out with some great dining options or want to celebrate your best round yet with drinks at the hottest spots in town, read on.
Montgomerie Links – Course 1
The first of the three courses you will be taking on is the beautiful Montgomerie Links Golf Course which is based a short distance from the famous Da Nang Beach. Created by golfing legend Colin Montgomerie, the links styled course features a host of challenges - from sandy soil and wind-blown dunes to undulating greens – that will keep you and your friends on your toes. Montgomerie Links also hosts more water holes than a traditional links course; so make sure you and your friends keep your balls dry if you want to keep to the 72-par round.
Since its launch back in 2009, the course has won countless awards and was even named as one of Asia’s ten most elite courses in the 2012 Forbes Travel Guide. Utilising the natural layout of the land, the 18 holes are designed to be an enjoyable challenge for players of all abilities, so you and your friends will be able to enjoy a truly memorable game.
Of course, everyone knows the 19th hole is always one of the most important aspects of the round, and Montgomerie Links offers a stunning modern clubhouse that players can unwind in afterwards. With all-day dining facilities featuring both international and Vietnamese cuisine, it’s the perfect spot for some post-golf lunch.
Laguna Golf Lăng Cô – Course 2
The Laguna Lăng Cô course is an epic 71-par championship course designed by former world number one Sir Nick Faldo. Designed to be enjoyed by players of all abilities, the full championship course comes in at just under 7,000 yards, with the beginner-friendly tees bringing that down to 5,263.
Utilising his years of experience (including winning six majors), Faldo has designed a beautiful course that maintains the natural terrain of the land and provides golfers with a truly varied game. Considered one of his best designs yet, the Lăng Cô course is the perfect location for the second round of golf of your trip.A fully catered clubhouse provides the ideal location for that post-round debrief and pint, whilst the 80-seat terrace café overlooks the final hole and provides a wide range of local and international food if you’re feeling peckish!
Ba Na Hills – Course 3
Your final round of the trip will be at the multiple-award-winning Ba Na Hills Golf Course. Designed by another former world number one, Luke Donald, the 18 hole, par 72 course is situated on the side of the mountain range.
The longest course you will play (7,857 yards from the championship tees) it provides a unique game that will make each hole feel different. Suitable for golfers of all skill levels, Ba Na Hills features a wide range of elevation changes, particularly over the back nine, and a host of challenges including deep bunkers and water features, making it one of the most fun courses in the world.
Ba Na Hills also offers a truly distinctive round of golf, with all eighteen holes being completely illuminated by more than 180 floodlights! The 1,500-watt lamps completely highlight the course, allowing you and your friends to play late into the night.
Alongside the epic course, the exclusive restaurant is the perfect spot for a bit of post-round dinner, with a stunning 180-degree panoramic view over the course and a selection of local and international delicacies on offer.
Da Nang Out & About
On your trip, you’ll be able to experience some of the most luxurious bars Da Nang has to offer, including the Novotel Sky Bar; Sky36. The highest bar in the whole of Vietnam, it is the trendiest nightclub in the city and will sure to give you a night to remember!
If heights aren’t your thing, the Golden Pine Bar is an epic downtown bar that is arguably one of the most famous in the city. Loud electro music and cheap drinks make it the go-to spot for the younger crowd.
Looking for some of the best food? Fat Fish is a spacious and welcoming restaurant offering diners craft beers and stunning cuisine. Equally as likely to get the taste buds drooling is El Gaucho, which serves up some truly delicious Argentinian steaks. Finally, we recommend a trip to the Sofia Restaurant in the Sofia Boutique Hotel for some exquisite five-star dining from a menu that caters for a variety of traditional Vietnamese cuisine and Western dishes.
