Migrating Miss

First in our new series we will be profiling and reviewing some of the top and up & coming travel bloggers,  helping you get to know the person behind some of the most popular and influential travel blogs.  Here we are profiling Sonja, who is behind 'Migrating Miss’.

About Sonja & Migrating Miss

Sonja’s goal is to travel and inspire others to travel as much as they can. Her blog shares her experiences, tips she’s picked up along the way and offers information she believes every traveller should know out. So far, Sonja has lived in the US, Canada, Australia, Scotland, and New Zealand, where she was born. Travelling for 11 years, since she was 16, Sonja doesn’t seem to have plans on slowing down any time soon.

Her website is split into three categories;

- Place to See
- Living Abroad
- Travel Tales

Some of her more notable blog entries on the Migrating Miss website include; ‘5 Ways To Make Friends When You Move Abroad’, ‘5 Steps to Travelling the World Forever’, and ‘Lessons From The Full Moon Party.’

Getting To Know Sonja

Kind enough to helps us with her review Sonja agreed to answered a few questions about her life as a traveller and travel blogger.

What is your favourite destination and why?
Scotland. I lived there for two years and it feels like home to me. I love the beauty of the country and the people.

Migrating Miss - Scotland

Tell us your scariest travel experience?
I was in a car accident in Cambodia, but thankfully everyone was ok.

If you could only give one single travel tip that you think would be the most helpful what would it be?
Put yourself in social situations. Stay in hostels, speak to people on tours. It’s the people you meet who really make the experience.

What is your favourite travel related quote?
‘Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.’

What was the single most influential thing/moment that drove you to travel blogging?
I always loved to write, especially about travel. I thought the travel blog niche was well over written and I would have no chance of being heard, but as I looked at more and more blogs I realised there wasn’t a lot about moving abroad, and the more blogs I found the more confidence I had that I could do it too.

What advice would you give someone wanting to become a travel blogger?
Just start. I wish I had started seriously so much sooner. There are so many resources out there, you don’t need to be taught just learn as you go along.

So Whats The Deal?

Migrating Miss is most helpful to those who are looking to live abroad, for anyone who is wanting to travel more in their life and is especially helpful for solo travellers. Her blog offers tips for moving abroad, personal stories and destinations of interest abroad.

At the time of publishing the Migrating Miss blog has a social media reach of over 3,000 regular readers. In our humble opinion this is a great travel blog and one to have on your bookmarks as the Sonja continues her adventures.
